Ass Prof Aristotle Bamias
Dr Aristotelis Bamias was born in Athens in 1962. He studied Medicine in the Medical School of the University of Athens between 1980-1986 and graduated in January 1987. He was trained in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology in the UK. His training included the Hammersmith, Royal Marsden and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals. From 1988 to 1993 he successfully completed his Theses in Athens University and University of London (PhD), working on the applications of monoclonal antibodies in cancer diagnosis and treatment. In 1995 he was appointed lecturer in Medical Oncology at the University of London.
Since 1997 he has been working as a Medical Oncologist in Greece. Since 2002 he has been working in the Medical School of the University of Athens, first as a Lecturer and currently as Assistant Professor. His main focus in Oncology is Urogenital and Gynaecological cancers. He is affiliated at the Dept of Clinical Therapeutics of Athens University, ALEXANDRA Hospital in Athens and he is in charge of the Laboratory of the Oncology Unit and the co-ordinator of the GU Working Group of the Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group. He is a full ESMO and ASCO member. He has been involved as Prinicipal Investigator or Co-investigator in several investigator and industry sponsored national and international studies focusing on GU and GYN malignancies. He has participated in international advisory boards and experts panels and he has published over 100 original papers and reviews in peer-reviewed journals. His publications have more than 1000 citations in peer-reviewed journals.
