It is a privilege and a great pleasure for us to invite you to attend the first Excellence in Oncology international conference in Athens, Greece, from 18 to 20 November 2010.

Oncology is a field of rapidly emerging scientific advances as well as of rapid development in the standards of patient care.

A number of international conferences that take place in Europe and USA are either organised around disease-specific tracks or are very large meetings, mainly designed to attract original and often preliminary clinical and basic research information, thus leaving practising oncologists in a challenging situation of having to synthesise and digest a high volume of controversial literature and information, relevant to their everyday clinical practice.

Therefore, an international periodical conference such as Excellence in Oncology, committed to disseminating latest scientific findings and practice-changing advances in oncology, is educationally and professionally called for.

The thorough compilation of the scientific programme of Excellence in Oncology is the result of the cooperation of the International Union Against Cancer and the editors of the most renowned Wiley-Blackwell oncological journals with eminent international oncologists. Furthermore, the participation in the faculty of distinguished Cancer Clinicians and Translational Cancer Researchers from all over the world guarantees the authentic dissemination of the latest knowledge and practice-changing advances in oncology as well as the promotion of Excellence in Oncology.

Excellence in Oncology is designed for a multidisciplinary audience involved in cancer clinical practice, including mainly Medical Oncologists, Surgical Oncologists and Radiation Oncologists. Pathologists, Radiologists and Translational-oriented Researchers are also included.

The Scientific Programme of the conference includes Oral Sessions, Poster Sessions, Educational Symposia, Scientific Symposia, Current Issues in Oncology Sessions, Clinical Problem Sessions, Plenary Sessions, Meet the Expert Sessions, Debates, Plenary Lectures and Lectures.

Last but not least, the submission of your abstracts for oral or poster presentation will greatly contribute to the success of Excellence in Oncology. The accepted abstracts will be published as a supplement to the International Journal of Cancer (IJC).
