Dr Fergus Macbeth
Dr Fergus Macbeth is Director of the Centre for Clinical Practice at NICE, responsible for the clinical guidelines programme. He trained as an oncologist and worked as a consultant with an interest in lung cancer in Glasgow and Cardiff. Between 1996 and 2000 he was Director of the Clinical Effectiveness Support Unit for Wales. He has been involved in the clinical guideline development since 1995, for SIGN in Scotland, for the Royal College of Radiologists and more recently for five years, until September 2008, as Director of the National Collaborating Centre for Cancer, developing guidelines for NICE. He is still actively involved in clinical research in lung cancer and is an honorary consultant at University College Hospital, London. He is an co author on three Cochrane reviews and Joint Coed of the Lung Cancer Review Group.
