Best Abstracts Awards

Excellence in Oncology will offer special awards to a limited number of abstracts, 15 in total.

The submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Abstract Evaluation Committee and evaluated on the basis of their scientific merit and originality.

The 3 best abstracts will receive the “Excellence in Oncology-Best Abstract Award” in the form of financial support of €2.000, €1.500 and €1.000 respectively.

The presenting authors of the next 12 best abstracts will be awarded with a complimentary registration for the Excellence in Oncology 2011 conference.

INFORMATION

“Excellence in Oncology” will offer 10 bursaries for participants studying or working in a "Least Developed" or "Landlocked Developing" Country, covering their expenses of participation to the conference.
The bursary includes*:

  • A roundtrip economy class air ticket from the participant’s country of residence to Athens
  • 3-nights accommodation in Athens*
  • A complimentary registration for the “Excellence in Oncology” 2010 conference

To be eligible to receive a bursary in order to attend this conference, the following criteria must be met:

ELIGIBILITY, CONDITIONS & RESTRICTIONS

Applicants must submit:

  1. Proof of abstract submission as a first author by providing the abstract submission confirmation letter (obtained through the “Excellence in Oncology” abstract submission process at http://www.excellence-in-oncology.org/content/abstracts).
  2. An official proof of status from the Institution/Hospital where the applicants practice their specialty at, or from the university confirming the status as student/postdoctoral researcher, or as an academic in good standing, proving they study, teach or work in a "Least Developed"/"Landlocked Developing" country. Please click here for the list of the "Least Developed" and "Landlocked Developing" countries. 
  3. A copy of their passport.
  4. A two-page CV.
  5. A motivation letter expressing the reasons for attending the Excellence in Oncology 2010 Conference. This should include an explanation of how the conference relates to the work or study of the applicant and how attendance will enhance such work or study. 

STEP-by-STEP-Procedure to Apply For Conference Bursaries

  1. Carefully read the eligibility criteria.
    NOTE: Ineligible applications will be rejected without further notice
  2. E-mail your bursary application to eio-abstracts@candc-group.com and include ALL documentation (abstract submission confirmation letter, status confirmation letter, copy of passport, CV, motivation letter) by 12 July 2010. Please use "Excellence in Oncology Bursary Application" in the subject heading.
  3. Recipients will be notified about their acceptance via e-mail by 3 August 2010.
  4. If your bursary application is rejected, then you will need to register at the conference in order for your abstract to be included in the scientific programme. In case you are unable to attend “Excellence in Oncology”, you may withdraw your abstract by 8 August 2010.

*Bookings for flights and accommodation will be arranged by the Conference Organisers. Accommodation will be offered on a bed & breakfast basis. Accepted applicants will be notified regarding their flights and accommodation details together with the letter of acceptance by 3 August 2010.
